The Chamber President Participated in the “Economic Dimensions of Peace” Meeting.

On June 27, 2026, Nawzad Ghafur Rabati, President of the Sulaymaniyah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Vice President of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the Kurdistan Region, participated in the “Economic Dimensions of Sustainable Peace” meeting, which was jointly organized by the Democracy Progress Institute (DPI), the Cizre Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Diyarbakir Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in North Kurdistan.
The delegation of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the Kurdistan Region was headed by Gaylan Haji Saeed, President of the Federation of Chambers, and included Nawzad Ghafur Rabati and Sheikh Tahir, Vice Presidents of the Federation of Chambers, along with Shukri Jamil and Havraz Bahjat, members of the Administrative Board of the Federation of Chambers, and Kamaran Muhammad, a member of the Administrative Board of the Erbil Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
During the meeting, discussions were held on the role of economic development and the private sector in supporting peace, achieving sustainable growth, as well as new investment opportunities and creating job opportunities.
At the meeting, Nawzad Ghafur Rabati delivered a speech highlighting the importance of the role of chambers of commerce in strengthening the foundations of peace and creating a stable and strong economic environment. He pointed out that cooperation between chambers of commerce and the private sector can lead to the expansion of investment, the development of trade relations, and the strengthening of economic cooperation.
At the end of his speech, he called for the establishment of a joint committee between the chambers of commerce and industry of the Kurdistan Region and Turkey, to resolve trade problems and obstacles, facilitate economic relations, and support joint economic growth between the two sides.
The meeting was attended by Karim Yildiz, Director General of the Democracy Progress Institute (DPI), Omer Faruk Yildirim, President of the Cizre Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Mehmet Kaya, President of the Diyarbakir Chamber of Commerce and Industry, along with a significant number of merchants, political and social figures, and representatives of civil society organizations.
