On July 17, 2026, Nawzad Ghafur Rabati, President of the Sulaymaniyah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Muhammad Haji Rasul Safray, Vice President, along with the Kurdistan Region trade delegation, as part of their trade trip to Uzbekistan, visited the FONON gold factory; a factory known as one of the largest and most advanced gold production factories in Central Asia.
Nawzad Ghafur Rabati, President of the Sulaymaniyah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stated that during the visit, the members of the Kurdistan Region delegation closely familiarized themselves with the different stages of gold production in Uzbekistan. The processes of design, modeling, finishing, and quality control in gold, silver, and diamond production were explained to the delegation. They also gained information on the use of modern technologies and advanced equipment used in the production process.
The aim of this visit is to become familiar with and exchange industrial expertise, as well as to find opportunities for cooperation and establish trade relations between companies and merchants of the Kurdistan Region and Uzbekistan. The FONON factory exports its products to the local market and a number of countries around the world, and has gained a special position in the gold market through the use of international standards and modern technology.
The Kurdistan Region trade delegation, headed by Gaylan Haji Saeed, President of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce of the Kurdistan Region, and Nawzad Ghafur, Vice President of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and President of the Sulaymaniyah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, along with Muhammad Rasul Safray, Sabir Amin, Ahmed Ali Kalari, Bahman Othman, and Khaled Hajji Ali, in addition to a number of directors of government departments in the Kurdistan Region, general directors of various ministries, the advisor to the Ministry of Agriculture, and a group of merchants from the Kurdistan Region, are participating in this trade trip to Uzbekistan.
