On July 13, 2026, Nawzad Ghafur Rabati, President of the Sulaymaniyah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, along with the Vice Presidents and members of the Administrative Board of the Chamber, received Maxim Malyarchuk, Chairman of the Russia-Iraq Business Council, Dr. Danar Abubakr, Representative of the Kurdistan Regional Government in Russia, and Shwan Zubair from the Department of Foreign Relations.
During the meeting, the President of the Sulaymaniyah Chamber of Commerce emphasized that Sulaymaniyah has played a significant and prominent role in the industry and trade sectors, and has been able to advance the agriculture and tourism sectors. Sulaymaniyah’s merchants have extensive trade relations with countries around the world and distribute their products across all cities of Iraq.
The President of the Sulaymaniyah Chamber of Commerce indicated that full facilities will be provided for Russian merchants to open an exhibition for their products inside the Sulaymaniyah International Exhibition building, which will be an important opportunity to introduce their products and work, within the framework of the full support of the Sulaymaniyah Chamber of Commerce for developing joint cooperation between the two sides.
During the visit, the Chairman of the Russia-Iraq Business Council also indicated that a Russian trade delegation is scheduled to visit Sulaymaniyah city on October 3, 2026, to closely familiarize themselves with the work and projects of Sulaymaniyah Governorate in the fields of investment, trade, agriculture, and tourism, and to observe the level of security and stability in the governorate.
This visit is an important step towards strengthening economic relations between the two sides, through joint work and the exchange of commercial expertise.
