The Chamber Cares About The Environment

In a recent panel held in Ramada Hotel, the issue of pollution in Slemani was discussed.

Both Azad Shamqar, chamber’s board member, and Wasfi Khalil, agricultural expert, attended the meeting. The attendants agree that old cars and public electricity generators cause excessive pollution of the air while house wastes damage the soil.

Doctors from Hiwa Oncology Clinic claimed that the groundwater of the city is also polluted and that public health is affected. Two more issues were also studied; firstly, the terms of building new housing units, and secondly the impact of drought on the environment.
