On May 13, 2025, Nawzad Ghafour, President of the Sulaymaniyah Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Sabir Amin, a member of the Chamber’s Administrative Council; and Darawan Haji Hamid, the Kurdistan Regional Government’s representative in Spain, visited the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Trade.
They were welcomed by Anade Vicente Lancho, Antonio Valverde Molina (Deputy Director of Mediterranean, African, and Middle Eastern Countries), and Javier Álvarez (Assistant Deputy).
During the meeting, Nawzad Ghafour, President of the Sulaymaniyah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, provided a comprehensive overview of investment opportunities in industry, trade, and other sectors in the Kurdistan Region, particularly in Sulaymaniyah City. He highlighted the ease of investment laws for foreign investors, who can invest in diverse sectors, noting that Sulaymaniyah Province offers numerous investment opportunities.
For his part, Anade Vicente Lancho, Deputy Director of Mediterranean, African, and Middle Eastern Countries, expressed his pleasure at the visit of the Sulaymaniyah Chamber’s President. He affirmed Spain’s readiness to support Spanish companies interested in investing in Sulaymaniyah Province and requested that the types of investment projects in the province be sent for further evaluation.
Nawzad Ghafour emphasized that the Sulaymaniyah Chamber of Commerce and Industry is committed to facilitating all procedures for companies wishing to invest in sectors such as industry, agriculture, tourism, trade, transportation, banking, education, and others.
During his extended stay in Spain, the Chamber’s President held several important meetings with government officials, investors, and trade chambers to attract the attention of investors and businesses to the region’s opportunities.
